【KAIWA】Lecture by an external expert held at the Wako office

We are pleased to report that an in-house lecture meeting (KAIWA) was held at our Wako office for the purpose of gaining diverse perspectives and knowledge in new fields from researchers and outside experts.

Prof. Feng Guo
Professor & Patricia Caldwell Fellow, Department of Statistics, Virginia Tech
Lead Data Scientist, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute
Feng Guo is a Professor and Patricia Caldwell Fellow in the Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech, where he also serves as the Lead Data Scientist at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. With dual Ph.D.s in transportation engineering and statistics, his research encompasses both methodological and applied aspects of quantitative transportation modeling. Dr. Guo has been principal investigator (PI) and co-PI in over 60 research projects funded by a variety of industry, federal, and state agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). His research interests span a wide range of topics, including driver behavior evaluation, statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), driving risk assessment, evaluation of advanced driving systems, and automated driving systems.

In the lecture, Prof. Guo talked about a wide range of topics, including human behavior/status and analysis of traffic data, etc., in order to solve problems in the traffic society.
